The name of our restaurant, Heimat, refers to the emotional connection people have with the places where they've put down roots. We bring these meaningful connections to life in the flavours coming from our kitchen. Heimat combines high quality ingredients with the smallest possible carbon footprint to create pure, soulful dishes.

Our head chef Niels van Zijl is ambitious and creative, just like his 'heimat' Utrecht. Before starting Heimat, Niels was head chef of restaurant DeZusters in Maarssen. In 2022 he was awarded Gault&Millau's 'New Chef on the Block'. Niels previously worked as a chef at several internationally renowned restaurants, such as De Librije*** in Zwolle (NL) and Kadeau** in Copenhagen (DK).
